It's certainly a more novel and interesting idea for fixing the global economy than the various fiscal stimuli and "co-ordinated global action" we've had to hear about day after day: the Russkies are calling for a partial restoration of the Gold Standard to "uphold discipline" in the financial system.
Personally, I like it, mainly because I hate Fractional Reserve Banking and paper money so much, and I do love gold.
Unlike our leaders, the Russians certainly seem to have sensible thinking hats on anyway.
